Eight thousand tonnes of waste received in one year from Nicosia Green Points

Positive results for 2023 in terms of waste collection from the Nicosia Green Points as more than 100,000 visits were recorded.

Specifically, based on the detailed data of the previous year, a total of approximately 8 thousand tons of waste was collected, of which 68%, i.e. 5,500 tons, related to pruning.

The remaining 1 000 tonnes relate to bulky waste such as furniture mattresses and carpets, while other types of waste collected include electrical appliances, timber, iron and others.

Meanwhile, among the Nicosia Green Points, Strovolos Green Point is the one that received the highest volume of waste (55%). It is followed by Alhambra with 15% and Ergates with 14%.

It is noted that the operation of the Green Points has the effect of reducing uncontrolled and illegal waste disposal, protecting the natural environment and public health. At the same time, integrated waste management is implemented and natural resources are saved for future generations.
